Scott’s Askin For It
What? An ass-kicking? Piles of soul-crushing rejection? An anxiety producing list of unanswered emails? The eventual opportunity to crank out hours of hard work on things I am passionate about? Yup, pretty much all that!
We all have things we want to experience. However, there are plenty of reasons why many never get done. Internal, external, right ones, wrong, fair and seemingly unfair. For you, it could be at work, at home or maybe even in bed! Maybe it is an honest answer, a date, a shot at something, some feedback or (hold on tight) just some help. Holy crap! Asking “can I try that, why does our company suck or what is this “unknown guy” idiot talking about?” could be in there too.
So a small part of this is me asking for what I want to experience and need to succeed. I know I am not reinventing the wheel and am certainly inventing writing well. But just because you didn’t invent something certainly doesn’t mean you can’t take it for a ride. Also, I don’t do this with some notion of entitlement. We have all seen, known, worked with or dated a person like that. Those people? Not fun! I know it will come with a ton of hard work, creativity, perseverance and patience. Oh yeah, and not being an A-Hole…that will probably help too.
From Saturday Night Live, Clint Eastwood to maybe even getting blasted in to space some day. It is one part “what the hell is he thinking” another part “no way he pulls that off” and a last part “holy crap he actually did it” The worst they can say is “no” the best they can say is “yes” and the most confusing is “not sure”, “maybe” or nothing at all. Somewhere between “we have been waiting all out lives for you to ask” and way before “that’s the guy, officer” is what I am expecting!
The bar is set high but so is the ground on the other side so come along as I find out just how many creative and entertaining ways there are to ask and respond. Be entertained by who says “no” and surprised who says “yes”.
